NHS launches seasonal COVID-19 vaccination programme this month

The NHS national booking system (NBS) is now open for eligible people to book their spring COVID-19 booster for free, from 22 April until 30 June 2024

COVID-19 spreads very easily and it can cause serious illness in some individuals, particularly older people and those with a weakened immune system. A full course of a COVID-19 vaccine provides good protection and helps reduce the spread of this virus. Anyone eligible who has not received any previous doses should get vaccinated during this year’s spring offer to get protection against severe disease.

Am I eligible?

People who are eligible and that are advised to have the vaccination this spring are:

  • adults aged 75 years and over
  • pregnant people
  • residents in care homes for older adults
  • individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed.

Parents or carers can book a COVID-19 vaccination for children under 16 on their behalf.

Please also note that not all sites offer vaccination for children and it is important to check this with the site in advance.

How can I book?

If you are eligible, you will receive a text, email, NHS App message or letter from the NHS. However, you do not have to wait for an invitation to book your vaccine.

If you are eligible, you can:

  • Download the NHS App and make an appointment
  • Visit www.nhs.uk/get-vaccine
  • Call 119 for free if you can’t get online (translators are available)

Walk-in clinics

Alternatively, some walk-in sites will be open across north west London from 22 April. Walk-in clinics do not require individuals to be registered with the NHS or to bring any identification documents. They also do not require bookings but we suggest you contact the vaccination site in advance to confirm their opening times.

Locations

A few of the locations in Westminster that will offer the COVID-19 Spring booster are listed below. Find out more about the full list of walk-in clinics in northwest London.
