Healthwatch Westminster is investigating the quality of accessing and using translation services within primary care services, amongst those whose first language is not English. Our aim is to find out how access to services can be enhanced, especially for patients who are at a greater risk of receiving inadequate care and experiencing health inequalities.
As pointed out in the Lost in Translation report from Healthwatch Camden, health inequalities can be worsened through the lack of appropriate methods of communication, via NHS bodies, to service users mainly from non-English speaking backgrounds.
